Spontaneous Trip to Melbourne

Keith called on Thursday afternoon about 4pm and said he had to go to Melbourne and asked if we would like to take a road trip? My thought process... I have a cranky, tired daughter and it is the "witching hour" of 4:00pm. 1 hour until daddy gets off work and we are doing all we can not to drive each other crazy, plus Mommy needs to start dinner. So, I could stay here and extend that "witching hour" another 3 hours (Daddy wouldn't get home until about 7pm) OR we could go with him and take a little road trip. We ended up having a great unplanned evening! We got to meet Keith's bosses and co-workers in Melbourne and one of them gave us a great suggestion of some "local" things to do. A great, quiet beach and a local seafood restaurant! Lizzie played on the beach and was happy as a clam (pun intended)! Then we went to the restaurant for dinner which was on the intracoastal waterway and had a pier that we could walk on after we ate dinner. They let Lizzie take her leftover (grilled cheese, of course) out to feed the fish. She threw it into the water and like a million catfish were fighting over it. It was really quite unsettling for Mommy, but Lizzie loved it! No pics of the fish.. it was too dark. The restaurant was great too! Very 70's motif with the decorating, but good food and good value! Great memories were made and I think we will be hitting both of those places again in the future!
